Sioux Empire’s Largest Home Show Set for March 8-10

World Champion Pastry Chef is 1 of 5 to Host Cooking Demonstrations

Hosted by the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire (HBASE), the 54^th Annual Sioux Empire Home Show^TM will showcase over 210 home-related booths from March 8-10, 2013 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Show hours are Friday and Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

“We have an amazing list of exhibitors in this year’s show,” said Kevin Zomermaand, 2013 HBASE President. “We have everything from landscaping to mortgages and remodeling to decorating. If it has to do with the home, it’s at our Home Show. Even if you’re just coming out to get ideas for your own home, this is the one-stop shop that’s so convenient.”

Back by popular demand, the Sioux Empire Home Show^TM will showcase five of the area’s best chefs and bakers in free cooking demonstrations. The demonstrations will be held on Friday and Saturday in Meeting Room 2 where a full sized kitchen will be constructed for the presentations. Chefs & bakers participating are from Oh My Cupcakes!, Carnaval Brazilian Grill, South Dakota Beef Council and Johnny Carino’s.

The HBASE is excited to also welcome World Champion Pastry Chef Chris Hanmer to the lineup of chefs at this year’s cooking demonstrations. Chef Chris’ long list of accolades include winner of Top Chef: Just Desserts, Season 2, Executive Pastry Chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Lake Las Vegas and developing The School of Pastry Design in Las Vegas, NV. He currently calls Sioux Falls his family’s home and is excited to be opening a new restaurant in downtown Sioux Falls this spring. It will be called CH Patisserie.

The Home Show^TM will also feature free workshops sponsored by Xcel Energy. They will be held throughout the weekend in Meeting Rooms #1 and #2 and are a great way to learn new tips and pick up great ideas for 2013. Admission into the Home Show^TM is not required to attend the workshops or cooking demonstrations. Some workshop topics include home staging, stress-free home building process, mortgage loans, mold in homes and replacement windows. For a detailed list of workshops, visit the HBASE website.

Admission to the 2013 Sioux Empire Home Show^TM is $7 for adults or $6 for seniors (Friday ONLY, 65 years old and over). Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Advance tickets can be purchased for $6 at Lewis Drug locations in Sioux Falls. Discount coupons good for $1 off adult admission are available on the HBASE’s website. New this year will be a $10 weekend pass sold at the Convention Center during show hours (coupon does not apply).

Students from Southeast Technical Institute have organized a coat check at the event that will be available for a donation. Home Ideas Magazine, the official event publication, will be on stands in late February.
