Argus Leader RibFest updates
SMG-Sioux Falls, the management company of the Sioux Falls Arena, is pleased to announce additional details about the 13th Annual Argus Leader RibFest. The annual festival will be held June 3 – 6 in Lot E of the Sioux Falls Arena.
Vermillion and The Rude Band will open for Blue Oyster Cult on Thursday, June 3. “RibFest Idol” Karaoke Finals and the Nick Rallis Band take the stage before Friday night’s main act, Soul Asylum. Saturday’s local music line-up will feature The Tinder Box, Bitter Root, Allen Goodroad, and the Andy Gibson Band. Saturday will conclude with American Idol finalist, Bucky Covington.
A big change to this year’s festival is Family Free Day sponsored by Sanford Health and MomsLikeMe.com. Family Free Day will take place on Sunday, June 6 from 11 AM – 5 PM. Admission to the festival will be free of charge that day thanks to our sponsors. Entertainment on stage includes Phil Baker at 1 PM and 3 PM and Do Re Let’s Play at Noon and 2 PM. Family Day will also have inflatables, temporary tattoos, balloon twister and other activities.
Free Friday is back this year courtesy of Campbell’s Supply. Stop by any Sioux Falls Campbell’s location to pick-up a ticket good for admission to the festival between 11 AM – 4 PM on Friday, June 4.
On Saturday, June 5, the first ever competitive rib eating contest will be held on the stage at the Argus Leader RibFest. Sponsored by Ag United, the contest will feature 10 contestants in an intense battle of endurance and girth. Starting on Friday, May 21st, fans will be able to bid on special VIP packages. Two VIP packages are available for each night Thursday through Saturday. These auctions include a meet & greet with that evening’s headliner, a one night stay & dinner for two at the Sheraton Hotel in Sioux Falls and a reserved table for eight at that night’s concert. Auctions will run from May 21st – June 1st and will be online at www.ticketmaster.com.
Finally, patrons who like to take in several nights of music and ribs can now purchase a weekend Wristband for $10. Wristbands will go on sale Monday, May 3 at 10 AM. Single night tickets will go on sale as well and are $5. Wristbands will be available only at the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office. Single day tickets can be purchased at the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets including Ticketmaster.com. Festival goers can also charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Tickets and wristbands will also be available at the gate.
